29th international symposium on wireless personal multimedia communications

8-11 NOVEMBER 2026 // Natal, Brazil

Toward Society 5.0: 6G, AI, Quantum Technologies, and Sustainable Green Connectivity Beyond 2030

About the Conference

The Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC) Conference is a premier global forum for researchers, scientists, and industry professionals to disseminate and discuss state-of-the-art advances in wireless communications and multimedia technologies. Established in 1998, WPMC has consistently fostered international collaboration in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), with a strong emphasis on next-generation wireless systems, 6G and IMT-2030, artificial intelligence integration, and multimedia convergence.

In 2026, WPMC will be held from November 8 to 11 at the Praiamar Natal Hotel & Convention, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. This edition marks the second time the conference will take place in Brazil, following the successful 13th WPMC held in Recife in 2010. With more than 28 editions across four continents, WPMC has established itself as a globally recognized reference event in personal wireless and multimedia communications, annually bringing together hundreds of participants from academia, research institutions, and industry worldwide.

The theme of WPMC 2026,
“Toward Society 5.0: 6G, AI, Quantum Technologies, and Sustainable Green Connectivity Beyond 2030,”
addresses strategic and forward-looking challenges for the evolution of wireless communications. Key topics include 6G and IMT-2030 systems (architectures, standardization, and technical requirements), AI-driven networking (AI/ML-based optimization, Open RAN xApps and rApps), multimedia convergence (Extended Reality (XR), edge computing, and massive IoT), as well as sustainability and digital inclusion (green networking and socially inclusive connectivity).

These thematic areas are closely aligned with CNPq’s strategic priorities for advancing cutting-edge ICT research, fostering disruptive innovation, and strengthening technology transfer between academia and industry.

In 2026, WPMC will take place from November 8-11 at the Praiamar Natal Hotel & Convention, Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. This will be the second WPMC in Brazil, following the 13th edition held in Recife in 2010. With over 28 editions across four continents, the WPMC has established itself as a global reference in personal wireless and multimedia communications, annually gathering hundreds of participants from academia and industry.

The WPMC 2026 theme, “Toward Society 5.0: 6G, AI, Quantum Technologies, and Sustainable Green Connectivity Beyond 2030”, will address strategic topics for the future of wireless communications, including: 6G and IMT-2030 Systems (architectures, standardization, technical requirements); AI in Networks (AI/ML-based optimization, O-RAN xApps/rApps); Multimedia Convergence (Extended Reality – XR, edge computing, massive IoT); and Sustainability and Inclusion (green networks, social connectivity). These themes perfectly align with CNPq’s priorities to foster cutting-edge ICT research, promoting disruptive innovation and technology transfer.
